Hey all, glad I found this forum. As my love for deer hunting has grown immensely over the past year my resentment for small tree stands has developed even more. Ironically, I heard of saddle hunting for the first time three weeks ago when picking up my first ultralight tree stand for public land hunting. I became intrigued and watched a few youtube videos by DIY Sportsman and G2 outdoors on hunting from a tree saddle and I knew immediately this approach may work for me. It reminds me of when i found out that there was a much more comfortable and minimalist approach to sleeping while camping: the hammock. The versatility, customization, and perceived comfort of a tree saddle have peaked my interest. I think i found a way to hunt public land with minimal gear in a way that is comfortable. I can not wait to pick the brains of all of you experienced tree hangers!

I will be joining the Tethrd Tribe with a Mantis and recliner later this month. now its time to figure out which platform/step method will work best for me........hopefully I can find some options to test out before buying.

Chris

Welcome from Northern VA! Read through the new saddle hunter section, it's a good place to get you started, understanding the terminology at first is important when reading through everything, also check out the thread I put together consolidating info, link below.
