I've been pleasantly surprised by this hat. It is a stretch material with a light fleece lining. It's very comfortable and pretty warm. The ear flaps stay out of the way or pull down over and cup the ears. I've worn it on several hunts down around 32 F when my Stormy Kromer Rancher hat would be too warm. I would've just gotten a classic Stormy Kromer instead, but I wanted something that was not dry clean only. Plus the normal Stormy Kromer hat ear flaps aren't very big (the Rancher has big ones though).

The REI hat is for runners, so the front and back has a very thin reflective strip. I took a black magic marker to it and now it doesn't shine and looks stock. If that wears off, I'll use some fabric paint.

I've been wearing a welders cap for the last two season. They are money. Super-plyable short brim that can be flipped down when the sun comes up and flipped up/out of the way at last light. They don't interfere with your [trad] bow string at all. Most come in 3 lengths (short/medium/tall). I've found the mediums to be correct for my ears in that they keep the cold off the top of my ears but fall about halfway in between the ear canal hole. This keeps my hearing from being impaired. If you think you might want one, check out Etsy. They have a ton of them.

I bought this from Daluth Trading thinking it would be the ticket for duck hunting. It’s firehose material with a fleece and goose down liner. I almost had a heatstroke the first time I wore it in 40 degree weather. Now I only pull it out for the lower temps.
