I’ve come to the realization on what my favorite morning set up is.

A cup of coffee, and a muffin or snack cake of some sort. Wait till gray light. Ease in to a spot where I have a good bit of visibility. Get up one stick high (bout 8 feet), and enjoy my hunt.

No sweating, no hard work up the tree, nothing. Just chill out.

Save that hard work stuff for the evenings lol

On a similar note, I’ve been hunting “seriously” for 4-5 years now and just last night I decided it was a cool idea to setup a preset for morning hunts just so it will encourage me to get out and hunt in the mornings. So picked up some cheap heavy steel climbing sticks I feel fine about presetting so I don’t have to leave my nicer expensive sticks out in the elements and to potentially be stolen. Just the thought of not having to set up the climbing method is so exciting!

I like the one stick 8ish feet idea. I was considering doing this for rifle season this year. But I can see the lure of it for bow season. The lightweight, speed, and simplicity of it.

I’ve also considered the cheap preset sticks idea but maybe with hawks and leave the bottom stick off so at least someone has to work for it to steal the top two.

I pulled my old sticks I had next to the house out. I plan to set a few spots either after season or spring time for just the reason.

I have a few places that I can either sit 10’ up or 30’ to have shooting lanes.. I usually go for the lower option.

I’m thinking of picking up some more wild edge steps in the off season and setting presets. 3 can get me 18’ with K/S. Thinking of just leaving top two and only carrying in 1 for the first move.

For gun sesaon, i just want to clear the brush so I can see. My best private is so grown up now that you have to be in a tree and up on the hill to see anything. Of course, I tagged out on a 13acre section of private across the road so I dont even get to gun hunt this year which is why I bought the saddle to start with!

I have some of the primal steps I’d sell cheap.

I have a state park reduction hunt Monday and Tuesday. I scouted the area a bit Friday but there is probably going to be a lot of pressure so i'll probably have to use back up spots. I was thinking of just packing one or two of my mini sticks with aiders to cut down on bulk. I'll be using my muzzleloader so I don't need to get crazy high and I can stay more mobile that way.

I hear ya on morning hunts! I've actually been hunting more on the ground these days than in a tree do to cover.

Nice reminder. If I try to get in before daylight, I never get enough sleep. Unless I know right where I'm going and what tree I'll climb, then walking in blind before light in deep and trying to figure something out in the dark is more stress and trouble than it is worth (at my age at least). I might get a multistep aider for the bottom stick just for these morning hunts. If I stretch out, 2 sticks with a 1 step aider on top and multistep on bottom should get me to 13 feet pretty easy.

I used 2 sticks and just 2 screw in pegs on each side for firearms season. Love rifle hunting from the saddle. Its quick and provides the very best rest possible as well as shot angles. I wound up moving around a bit and then actually shot a 9 pointer from the ground. But that's the beauty of the saddle you can ground hunt, still hunt or hunt from a tree 2 miles deep on public land.

I actually stash my LW climber close to where i know i’ll be hunting and have a tree i can use it in and bury it under leaves and branches.

Just walk in with my saddle on, grab the climber, and i’m 20 ft up in less than 10 minutes.

My climber isn’t in my garage from Sept to January and noones been on to me yet :)

I have some rivers edge sticks they are $16each with free shipping so I bought 4 to try them out. They are awesome! I put my hawk helium on the bottom and have 2 locations w 2 r.e. Sticks. I just carry in the hawk and the platform. I did a few suits without platform I had 2 branches and the top of a stick. I made it through but platform is a lot more comfy on the feet. It might be possible with knade swade just to use cheap pre sets. I have a set of three helium’s for other spots.
