Hunted all weekend and camped out with a few guys from across the state of TN including bigasports and ImThere. We had a good time even though the weather was hot.
Yea I know I’m not in a saddle, but if I have time to practice after work this week, I might be in a sitdrag this weekend.
If you want to skip reading the details, here is the video-
Anyway, I hunted morning and evening both days, with a little scouting in between.
Food is everywhere right now. Bumper crop from the northern red oaks and persimmons. Corn fields being cut, acorns lying everywhere and persimmons rotting on the ground.
It was tough to find a good spot, but ImThere told me he came across a persimmon tree full of fresh deer sign. It was at the bottom of a ridge where I usually turkey hunt but rarely deer hunt. So I figured I’d give it a go on Sunday evening, after everyone had broke camp and headed home.
The wind was not ideal, I was dripping in sweat, and my thermacell ran out of gas because I left it on the night before. Somehow I survived the mosquito helicopters and somehow the deer came in from the bottom despite the wind...
The aider turned out to be a great deer drag as well. Terrain was not conducive to a deer cart.
