So, I just got a new truck several months ago and installed a rubber bed mat and soft trifold tonneau cover. There is a rubber-y smell from the bed liner mat and, while it has diminished greatly over the last couple of months, it is still noticeable. Was curious as to what people’s thoughts were regarding storing bow, saddle, hunting pack, etc., in the truck during the season? Good idea? Bad idea?
 
This is my first year on public but have the same set up on my truck except I have a hard cover not a folding one. I’ve been keeping my stuff ready to go in the back seat for the most part. It’s easier to access to me and I’m trying to get out as quick as I can since I’ve been heading out after work. I don’t see a problem keeping it in the bed though. That’s what I typically do when I’ve got a weekend on our private piece and am not in a hurry.

Might depend on how careful you are with the rest of your odor system.
Are you meticulous about it? If you are not, then I doubt your truck odors would matter. I've been an odor freak for a long time and I'm starting to think that deer are not all that alarmed by chemical odors, it's the actual human odor that they react to. But I still try to be as odor free as I can be.
I would keep clothes in a tub in your cab, bow in cab, too.
Anything that has to go in the back would not make contact with the bed liner. Everything in tubs and/or contractor garbage bags.
 
I have a brand new bed cover too and it smells. I'm using tubs

I'm going to give the cover a good scrub down soon
 
After hunting a few days no shower plenty of cooking smells a rubber mat may be a sent blessing.
 
I know with rubber boots some sun exposure can get them to offgas faster… long term the mat might descent faster if you give it a few weeks of sun.
 
I would use a tub with a good seal or gasket on it. For me here in Arkansas in early season, my sweaty BO usually covers any kind of other scent by the time I get up in the tree, therefor I have to really play the wind right. Right before I went into the woods yesterday afternoon, my truck said it was 80 degrees, by the time I got back to my truck after dark, it had only cooled to 74.
