Been following this forum for about 6 months, don't have a saddle yet, but will be making a system with a Sit drag and my rock climbing harness. I'm a DIY by nature and this forum rocks.

Was a gun hunter since '94 but gave up on gun hunting for deer about 5 years ago. Archery only for me now. Started on the ground, then bought an old steel climber that must have been 30#, then a summit climber, then sticks and a Millennium M7 lock on. Looking to go lighter so have gravitated toward saddle.

I switched to a RCH when my full body harness cost me what would have been my 1st bow buck. Couldn't draw as tether was in my way.

I am looking forward to getting my saddle gear in order.

I'm prototyping a 1lb two step stick right now. Version 1.0 failed (bent feet while bouncing) but v1.1 should solve that, and I have v2.0 in the works. Here's a teaser pic...Screenshot_2018-11-07-10-44-31.png

Welcome from Louisiana.
Now I’m curious about your sticks. What is the distance between steps and what is the weight of these versions?

17" between steps, 19"overall, 9" step width. This was my first try. Weighed 1 lb 2oz (1.13lb) with the 1/4 amsteel rope. I ran the design through my SolidWorks CAD program FEA but didn't account for the feet, just the step in the vertical. Held fine vertically, it bent inward. My improved version braces the step to the foot and should be a hair under 1lb with a 3/16 amsteel rope. Going to build it this weekend and post a thread.

The overall length and distance between steps are in the norm. I will be watching for your thread on the new version with pics of the bracing to solve the inward pressure deficiency of the original stick. Also any observations/opinion on the 3/16 vs 1/4 amsteel. It would be interesting to see if the 1/16 difference is noticeable.
