I want to get rid of the strap that comes with the web and use a rope bridge across the 2 contact points on the web and attach them with biners, Then use a length of rope around the tree and attach the bridge to the rope with a prusik backed up with a stopper knot. Has anyone else done this to their web?
 
I think that's the most common mod people make with the GW. Did it the day mine arrived. Didn't even try the stock tether/bridge. Tried to purchase without but Butch wouldn't do it.
 
I fought the stock tether until flinginarrows saved me from the mess and taught me how to make a tether exactly as you describe....piece of advice...forget the prusik and get a ropeman 1 ascender....its awesome and easy to use!
 
Can someone post a pic of what your web setup looks like while hanging. I have one I need to mod.
 
I cut the tether off the bridge on my GW and just use the web bridge with the rope tether and ropeman 1 from my Saddle. Works great.
