I know this makes me a dinosaur on this forum, but I like full size LW sticks. I've been playing around with different ways to haul. Horizontally, they are a major brush catcher. But vertically they pack nice on the JX3. I bungee them together with bungee loops and just crisscross the buckle straps. They stay very quiet.

Just fyi for other dinosaurs...

I would think you could turn the top steps back, and lose a few inches of height too. Or flip them upside down, and do the same thing, and double the advantage

Also, do you find that just the two leg straps keep them stable enough? seems like they would crossed like that.

Yeah, they really do. I took them to a local WMA and did a hike in and climb there was no rattle, etc. I tried to put them inside the JX-3 but couldn't get them real tight in there, strapped on the "outside" like this (criss crossed) really seems to work well.
