Hey all

Welcome from SW PA.
One thing that has been discussed on here a few times is shooting weak side shots with trad. I'm not very good at shooting over the bridge towards my weak side. I'd suggest that you explore that shot and figure out which method works best for you. I hunt from platforms (not ROS) and I've found that turning around on the platform works best for me to shoot weak side.
There's other ways to skin this cat and this forum is liaded with helpful, opinionated people. It's good here.
Where are you from?

Welcome from northern Michigan. I'm on the other side of the coin but facing a similar issue. Been saddle hunting for a while now but am planning on hunting with traditional gear for the first time this season after 45+ years of bow hunting. Looking forward to the new challenge.

Nothing like it man. Trad is a great adventure. Just don’t give up.

Welcome.

I’ve found the saddle to be easier to shoot traditional. I can shoot sitting down/leaning from my strong side by using ROS and/or platform and longer tether to rotate completely around the tree. I’m the Odd Ball around here as I hunt elk with the saddle at destination points (water and wallows). So, being able to move around the tree has become invaluable to me.

Have fun and be safe

I am taking mine to CO this year. More planning to use if for bear if I manage to shoot an elk but would certainly use it on a wallow if I find one worth hanging over.

Can I come pack out meat? I wish. I miss Colorado, daily.
Moved to TN from Louisiana.
My wife is from Louisiana. I enjoy that state’s food priorities and gain 10lbs every visit.

yes food is great and there are some things I miss regarding edibles. But that’s about it. I am very happy to have moved. Where in Louisiana is she from? I lived in Baton Rouge.

Nice! Well cool on that. I’m not originally from LA but lived there the last 8 years and before that France and Florida.

I hope I have reason to need pack help. I have been in bow range on each of my 4 trips but only managed one shot and kill so far. Hoping to improve on that this year. Still a newb for sure on this elk hunting but I figure if I can keep getting in tight the scales will start tipping in my favor at some point. Completely obsessed with the San Juan's. They definitely make you earn it.

What part of TN do you call home? I spent four year at Fort Polk before moving to the Knoxville area. My biggest hesitation moving to the saddle a few years ago was worrying about how it would play out with my recurve in-hand. After making the switch I don't know how I fumbled around with it in my climber.

Welcome from Illinois! For me the comfort is the major reason I like the saddle. I have lower back problems in addition to being of advanced age, and the saddle beats any stand I have ever hunted from. I even put a sit drag in my ground blind for the real cold weather hunts.
