New to this form and to SADDLES. So a quick back ground I've been hunting most of my adult life (bow-20 years-deer & coyotes). I have great private hunting in stl co.BUT also have a huge issue with thieves and poaches, witch both are hard for me to tolerate. Thieves have brought me to your way of hunting (new tribe aero hunter evolution). I've lost probably 1500 or better in gear. I've literally put a deer down went and gutted it drug it 50 yards or so to my garage to walk back to my climber to find it gone. Hangons chained down with 3/8 chain and cut off......you get the piont. So I figured a saddle is for me lite and I can wear it. I can't wait I'm very comfortable in a tree. I can site in a climber all day no matter the weather so I may not ever see a deer in this since this is so comfy-sleepy sleepy lol. I've snooped around here for a bit but to cover all the bases I have s few questions. First off do you have any major do's & don'ts? Is there a curtain camo patern that works better with a saddle? Last but not least I have bad ankles and definitely need some sort of platform so what's the most comfortable set up. Thx

Welcome to the site! :D

I am sorry to hear about all of your losses. Having your saddle with you at all times will definitely help you out with that.

As far as major do's and don'ts: Practice everything at ground level and get comfortable before you do anything up in a tree. Hunting out of a saddle is extremely safe but you will need to develop a comfort level. Also test all equipment and ground level and remember that regardless of what anyone else says or does, YOU must feel comfortable with your equipment before you use it.

Many guys on here are fan's of some of the more open camo patterns like ASAT and predator. I think even more important than that is limiting your movement and learning to move at the right times.

I personally use all the different kinds of tree steps available for my different systems and I don't have any problems with them. You might want to look into using a tree stand seat as a platform for more comfort. There are a couple threads discussing them around.

Again, welcome and good luck!
