Does anybody use something like this? When I am sitting in a pop up blind my crossbow is sitting on my tripod.

You do so much tinkering and second guessing during the off-season.

I think something would bang against the tree while trying to take a shot.

Steady Eddy, Tru glow hip rest, diy hip rest anybody them. Is this just one more thing I have to buy. I am shooting off hand, not over 40 yards on standing deer. I have never thought to myself while practicing that I need a rest. Am I missing something?

I actually have success using the tether line as a brace, not a rest, but it is very effective when opportune to do so. I would not want to tote a rest around for a saddle hunt. I practice offhand a lot so shoter shots are confident for me.
One thing I like to do offhand is not dink around too long trying to steady in. I move from bottom up, get to my mark and touch off. It is way more consistent for me than trying to hold on the spot

I am much steadier sitting in the saddle than standing unsupported. There is less movement because any movement occurs from your waist upwards.
