Hey guys decided, I'm new here as well as just starting saddle hunting. With the cost of commercial platforms, I decided to make a few platforms instead of buying one. All together, I have abou
t $50 total in materials for all of these.
First two are 1/4" steel designed to fit in the wild edge/primal steps. I will use these for multi day hunts on private property. They weight approx 8 lbs each with step.
The next one is bare bones light for long hikes. Its made of angle aluminum, 12 x 11", and weighs 1.8 pounds. It has a slight amount of twist flex to it, but is solid otherwise.
This is my favorite one. 17 x 15" made with 1 inch 1/8" thick square aluminum tube. The neck is 1.5" x 1/4" aluminum. It weighs 4.8 pounds and it rock solid even with 500 pounds hanging off it. I feel as safe on this one as I do standing on the ground.
