How many cams do you run?

I put 2 out last year one on public and one on private. This year one on private and 12 on public. All regular cams. The 12 will be spread out over about 7500 acres. Plan to hang and soak 'em mostly. Will likely do one full run before season and then check only if I am close.

Lifetime total of zero but just got a free one for upgrading to Elite on OnX so looks like I’ll put one out this year.
I never had a need to as a younger person hunting shotgun, they just told me where I was going to sit each year and I did, and I’ve just gotten into archery the last few years. Being public land only I assume the risk it goes missing is pretty high but we shall see. Plenty of people do it and have great luck!

Care to share any details on how you build your battery packs? I was looking at getting some premade ones by HME/Stealth to keep from replacing batteries every year.
I'm out of town at the moment, but I can take some pictures when I get back. I was looking at thr HME ones as well, but a couple people I know that had then said they didn't seem to work well, so I didn't go that route. I ended up buying the parts in bits to not get hit with the cost all at once, but below is what makes them up:

Parts list was a $5 ammo box from Harbor Freight, Wildgame Innovations solar panel, 12v battery and a Herd 360 charge cable. I think it came out around $65 or so, so a bit more than the HME, but comparable. I could have went less, but I wanted the charge cable with the critter shielding to help with wires getting chewed through.

I am running all cells and thinking about selling my traditional cameras. I run 4 reveals (with the rechargeable battery pack) and 1 stealth cam. I set them and don't go back to them until after season or if they NEED maintenance. I want to get more cells though.
How well does the battery pack work, I keep eyeing that up

I have never run cell cams, but I’m going to start this year. Being a young dad I decided the cell cams might scratch the itch for me and hopefully help me to pick the times wisely when I get out to sit since my time to hunt progressively goes down each year in this season of life.

I have 2 tactacam reveals I got for Christmas and another one on the way.

Also, I’m looking at placing an order for the Fuion X stealth cams… anybody have experience with them?

They do very well. The price is great too. The battery pack cost less than 2 sets of batteries. The pack lasts a whole season, UNLESS a branch or some leaves fall in front of your camera and you get literally 800 pics in one day.

I have 7 cameras. Generally about 5 of them are out year round and I check them very sparingly. The other two get used for in season scouting.

Ended up getting 8 out on new to me public and 1 on private. May still hang a couple more but will likely be after season opens.

Own about a dozen. Only four are out now. I am less and less motivated to use them every year. Just don't get much valuable intel from them, and once you've seen a million deer pictures, the million and oneth loses its lustre.

The primary way I use them is to check big woods rut spots I am iffy about. Most of these are areas I think bucks probably travel through, and don't leave much of any discernable sign so cameras save some time prospecting. Get them out sometime before November, let them soak until rifle season, and see what I have to work with for next year.
