I am brand-new to saddle hunting i still am practicing my mobile climbing methods. The 3 reasons why switched to saddle hunting was mobility, weight, and using the tree to block the view of the deers of me.

I bought a ridge runner platform it is very comfortable and i love it. The one negative about ridge runner platform and predator platform is that cannot mobe 360 degrees around the tree. It's surprising to me that this topic is overlooked. This just my opinion i think the hybrid platform is best with a pivot style platform with a ring of steps is the best. I think squirrel steps are best ring style because thier really light wieght.

You can defiantly shoot 360 degrees around with a ridge runner platform or predator platform but how can you move around the tree to block deers view of you? What are you going to step on?

Seems that would be even easier, if all you want is to hide behind the tree: just hang off the saddle. Some people put an extra step around the tree which may help with that. Again, if all you want is to get behind the tree: no problem, just swing around and hang off of the saddle. Here I am assuming that you've got a proper system that will safely hold your weight.
