So I'm trying to put together a DIY public/ private permission turkey hunt. A friend of mine and fellow spring turkey fanatic, will be coming out of tulsa trying trying to put down our first kansas birds. I've scoured ONX for public/WIHA that looks promising but can't make up my mind on what unit to hunt. Also, I am definitely not afraid to knock on doors and ask permission.

There any locals on here that could provide some insight on where to start? Will probably be up there the 2nd or 3rd weekend of May if we do actually go.
 
Kansas is in the middle of a huge turkey decline. Areas I used to see dozens of birds had nothing. I had a farmer tell me he hasn’t see a bird all year. That was more north but still bad there.
