Kong KISA energy absorber for one-stick climbing

@Kevin2, the kisa could go directly on the bridge, or clip on with a carabiner. Finding the right size rope is the challenging part. The tether would clip onto this rope.

I'm going to have to play with it. I'm running a 1 stick out fit, while planning to also fun my tether as my belay 40' rope down at sits end. If I have a ONE handed prusik knot hooking my tether to my bridge, I'm figuring the Kisa would go directly onto the Bridge OR the prusik. In your photo it would go Prusik-biner-kisa hooked directly on the bridge like you have it set in your photo, with the 2 feet of slack line laying in wait under the kisa. Sounds like that would work, I think. Thanks for the photo, helps.

I'm considering running 9mm Sterling C-IV Canyon Rope in my Kisa. I'll go read on it, but not sure about the recommended rope type, other then general sizes mentioned here and on the Kisa?

My first cord was also too big, decided to go small and work my way up in diameter after that. Right about the older style phone cases, didn’t want the dangle and they were mounted near device to make sure the cord couldn’t get snagged while deploying. I tried mostly fall factor 1 jumps and only had about a foot and a half slide through, figured it would be at least double with a ff2, which hopefully you don’t get into, so had 6’ in the reserve, just in case.
What rope is that in the KISA? (in your picture above)

That is an 8mm Technora cover and nylon core rope from Pelican Ropes, which I got from Sherrilltree. There are a lot more choices now, there wasn’t when I was looking for what would work for me.

It’s a bit of a balancing act to be able to sit and weight it without it slipping and having it slide when loaded dynamically.

I tried the cords I have and found that Samson’s 9mm Bailout is the same size as the Pelican Ropes one.

Im going to try to implement a kisa into my setup but from my reading other threads i think the 8mm is not in spec and has shown to cause unexpected slipping and possible free fall. Am i right? I was planning on ordering some new 9mm rope to go with the kisa. Already have 8mm rope but don't want to push any limits of the design.

I've tried Teufelberger Resc Tech and a few other 8mm cords and none will hold my weight - cord slides right through. I have also tried Samson Ultratech (9mm) with no luck. I couldn't get it to slide at all even when I did a test by jumping off a five gallon bucket. I've had good results with Samson Predataor (11.4mm). It's a little tight, but in trials where I jumped off a 55 gallon drum, about 14mm of rope slid through each time, cushioning my fall nicely. I only thread the predator through three holes. Brocky's last post above suggests 9mm Samason Bailout will work, but I haven't tried it.

I've decide to stick with the 11mm Samson Predataor for climbing, then switch to my 9mm Ultratech rappel line once I'm up. After a season of one sticking, I've noticed my climbing tether is pretty roughed up. I'd rather not subject my rappel line to the same treatment - cheaper to replace a tether every year or so than a 30 foot rappel line.
