This may have been covered somewhere not sure. But has anyone ever used them? Looks like it would be a little safer since they wouldn't slide out. Give me your thoughts and ideas

Most lag bolts are grade 5. Offset the bolts to the side enough that you’re never pulling straight out on them but not so wide your linesman’s belt gets caught on them. It’s difficult to accidentally pull a bolt out.

ERICS - DO YOU USE YOUR BOLTS ON PUBLIC LAND IN GEORGIA? I AM FROM S. GA. AND I RECENTLY SPOKE TO THE DNR AND THE WILDLIFE/GAME WARDEN DIVISION, AND THEY BOTH SAID THAT AS LONG AS THE BOLTS ARE NOT PERMANENTLY LEFT IN TREES, WE ARE ABLE TO USE THEM ON WMA FOR GEORGIA. THE GAME WARDEN STATED EXACTLY WHAT WAS IN THE REGULATIONS GUIDE, AND SAID HE SEES NO ISSUE WITH USING BOLTS AS LONG AS REMOVED AFTER HUNT. PRETTY EXCITING TO BE ABLE TO USE BOLTS ON BOTH PUBLIC/PRIVATE LANDS. I ASSUME THIS MAY DIFFER ON NATIONAL FORREST LANDS, OR STATE PARK HUNTS !

Bolts won't slide out. Lag bolts you can bend more easily, and are more difficult to install than bolts, but are otherwise fine enough. But mostly they're "fine, but worse" than bolts imo.

I have a couple trees with them.. the ones I used are really thick and your definitely not putting them in easily, I predrilled a small hole to get it started then had to use a breaker bar with a socket on it to get em in.. my 18v Milwaukee impact didn't do nothing but get hot and kill the battery.
Mine have been in place for a few years have not bent or deformed, in the future I would not do it again.

I got away with it 30 years ago. For the price, safety , and efficiency, I would not do it again. It's just really hard to beat a Treehopper and grade 8s.

Heck, I got away with big friggin' nails. Bolts are better, easier, and safer.
