Landowner Permission

So after a lifetime of having plenty of land to hunt I hate to say it but due to new home construction, people moving, etc. My hunting property has dwindled to almost nothing. So this early spring I plan on knocking on a few select properties and trying to get permission. Mind you this is uncharted territory for me and would like anyone with experience with this to lend me some sound advice?

I have written up some" Landowner permission cards". My thoughts are to have two halve one for me and one for the landowner. Both would spell out what I can hunt and any special rules from the landowner and timeframe so there is no questions as to what I can and can't do. We could both sign our given halves with the understanding that the landowner can revoke my permission at any given time. My concern is that do you think this is overkill and would scare people away from letting me hunt or would this give them more peace of mind?

I think we can mostly agree that the Eberhardts have come up with a complete system for obtaining hunting permission. If you are on this site and have not read their literature I suggest an attempt. They have entire chapters about your issue. while it isn't fool-proof, it is surprisingly effective.

I have his videos but not the book I will have to take a look. Thanks for the suggestion.

Looked into buying John's book and there is two, im sure both are great books but which one has the info about obtaining permission? I am leaning more towards the Prescion Whitetail(States about a year round approach) opposed to the Pressured Whitetails. But who knows which one has the part about the permission?

Bowhunting Whitetails the Eberhart Way features the largest amount of information about access to hunting land (ch. 2 - Access).

Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails: Expert Techniques for Taking Big, Wary Bucks has a much more abbreviated take on the subject. Both a good pieces of literature to have. Some of the content is somewhat recycled, but usually it picks up where the other book left off.

IMO adding Precision Bowhunting: A Year-Round Approach to Taking Mature Whitetails to your collection rounds out your library nicely. All of the books more or less discuss, at different lengths, the same or similar topics but as I mentioned they will pick up where the others left off, and vice versa.
