I am putting an addition onto our house. If I get a buck this year, I would like to have him Euro mounted and put the skull at the new front porch peak.

Has anybody left a Euro mounted skull outside in the elements? Will it be ruined or will it last awhile? Thoughts?

It basically ruines it over time. The antlers get white and chalky like a shed that has been out in the sun for a year.

My grandpa had a collection of skull caps that hung above the entry to his detached garage for 20 ish years. You could tell the older ones and most had tips busted/weathered off, some green growth and a definite patina. His detached garage was all metal so now worry about squirrels getting to them either, vinyl or wood could allow the tree rats to damage them heavily.

I'd be worried about mice and other critters eating them for calcium. But I've also seen barns with decades of skulls and antlers on the walls, a family history of hunting.
