For the guys running leg gaiters with light weight boots, how dry do they keep things if fully submerged?

I know they aren’t meant to be used like knee highs, but am looking to get away from rubber boots and going with light weight, light insulated, and gaiters for next year.

I can’t believe I never knew about gaiters. If your foot stays submerged above waterproof line of boot it’s getting wet. But busting through quickly it works. The bigger benefit is walking through knee high wet stuff. Or if it’s raining lightly.

I did some wading at Laguna Atascosa well above my boot line in Kuiu Gaiters and stayed bone dry.

BUT after wearing them all day and not readjusting the velcro I got soaked on the walk/wade out so they are awesome for keeping you dry but they do need periodic adjustment to stay "sealed".

With that said they are awesome for quickly walking through stream and such and for walking through mud

I have been wearing these for almost a year now and have 0 complaints. I have crossed plenty of ditches and creeks and have not gotten wet yet. They are waaaay more comfortable than rubber boots. I have had them since turkey season and would definitely recommend them. I found them on sale and got them for $200. They have a zipper side and easily roll down.

What gram insulation do those have?

The website doesn't say, but I have worn them from the 20s to the 80s with no issues. I would say my feet were more uncomfortable in the hotter temps than the colder. I generally don't do all day hunts. Usually 4-5 hrs at a time.

I wish they still made these. Seems like cabelas and a lot of other companies have gone away from producing knee highs that aren’t rubber. Those lockdowns seem almost perfect.
