Lever Rifles

I have a marlin 336 in .30-30 with a scout scope. I love that rifle! I really want a long ranger in .308, with a scout scope. I could not find a way to mount a scout scope on it like the XS lever scout on my marlin, so I never bought one.

For me, open sights or scout scope on a lever gun is my preference.

I mounted a scope on my 22 and I really did not care for it but I have a hard time with iron sights because of my astigmatism.

Older gloss Burris or more modern matte Leupold ? Positioned different for eye relief.

I mean... what matters more is how it looks when you look through the scope. Looks like the Leupy gives better eye relief, might be a bit faster in thick timber. Is that a priority for you?

Oh for sure. I was curious after reading another forum discussing using older gloss scopes on older marlins for a certain look.
1. I don’t see it but I’ve never had an eye for fashion especially on guns.
2. Like you said. Function is first and the Burris limits eye relief and hammer access.
