I'm not sure if I'll want to convert my Leverage climbing sticks over to a Versa Button style hanger because most of my stands are pre-sets on private land. I wanted to try an idea to see how well it would work. For this exercise I chose to use a 3/8"x1" socket head shoulder screw.
The Leverage steps ahave a somewhat "V" shaped main beam so to seat the shoulder screw I first removed the original bracket that at attached the strap to the main support beam. That bracket was held on by a 1/4" bolt. After removing the bracket I drilled out the existing hole and spot faced the beam with a counter bore tool with the correct diameter. Next I tapped the hole with a 5/16"-18 tap and installed the shoulder bolt.
Next I removed the strap from the bracket and removed the OEM clasp using bolt cutters. So far it seems like it should work well and seems solid. I just thought I'd post this to show another possible way to skin a cat...

I'm having trouble posting pictures but will post when I can.

Does the versa button make them easier to hang? And safety is still maintained?
