Light sticks for tracking at night, or as reference on way out of a new area.

Anyone ever use light sticks for tracking at night? I was getting my reflective pins around and my wife said I just just get some glow sticks, cheap easy to see and you can follow the trail easy. They make little 1 or 2 inch ones zip tie to branches. Or if you need to come back later break one, zip tie as close to where you hit it as possible and will be super easy to find later even in the dark.

Another good use might be as a reference "beacon" for your trail for getting out of a new area easy.

Emergency lights if you get lost.....

more I think about it they little gems are really useful and cheap.

Besides the potential to be left behind in large numbers because of various circumstances, sounds like a good idea. I think gps/smartphones made things like that obsolete for whitetail woods. But if you’re going material over electronic, why not?!

I have used them as reference beacons to find my last known spot, but I don't make a trail of them. Just one to mark a location after dark when I'm coming back. Agree for the price/weight, having at least one in your pack is handy.

I keep a couple in my pack, mainly to mark last blood if I need to back out. I have used one to get out of the woods at night, when I forgot to put my head lamp and flashlight back in my pack one time. Not very bright but could at least see where I was stepping
