I've been a saddle user for a long time. Waaaay before this site. Although I do not use it exclusively, it is a very important piece of my gear. My rig is stock and I need mods. Basically tree tether and linemans rope. I see the Ropeman talked about but haven't seen them listed anywhere for sale. I have visited a couple of sites to look at the gear but it can be quite extensive. So the question......for tree tether, what's the preference on rope type/diameter and same question for linesman rope. I use a TS. Help a brother out.

On another note, I'm impressed with the thought put into these rigs. Some look a little busy, others very minimalistic. I've been a fan a long time, I think because my build makes me perfect for this and the this method is the only way to get in tight on spooky deer.......period.

Treestuff and Wesspur are favorites for ordering gear here.
For big standard rope, Yale Bandit is what comes with NewTribe saddles.

Smaller rope isn't approved with the Ropeman but it is used by some

Ropeman 1 on Ebay right now. And they are orange instead of blue;)

Did we conclude ropeman 2 works good enough?

There's no one stop shopping on this stuff if you want best price on each item.

I've been looking around. I found the "2" in black. I may go with thinner diameter rope than most. I'm only about 140# and feel completely comfortable maneuvering myself around in a tree. Looking to lighten the load.

These are great options for upgrading. The ropeman 1 is not approved for ropes below 10mm. The ropeman 2 has a different style for grabbing rope, it uses teeth. It is approved for ropes down to 8mm I believe, but I have to experiment with some ropes to find one that it works the best with. It needs a rope with a harder sheath otherwise it will rip the sheath up pretty quickly.

For my tether I am currently using 9mm samson ultra tech with a kong duck. The duck is rated down to 8mm.

I bought the 2 in "black" and it came in gold fyi.

Red let me know how the 2 works on the ultratech. My concern with the 2 is hanging up on the rope with its teeth. Maybe the tighter woven outer sheath eliminates that? I need to make up something for jr:sunglasses:

I did a very short experiment in the garage and I don't think the 2 will work well on the ultra tech. I have some 9mm sterling htp that has a stiffer sheath and it seems to hold up better on that. Just haven't had the time to really experiment lately.
