Where the skys are so blue!
Anybody use 'em? I do a lot of slipping along creeks looking for deer, hogs, and ducks and am considering upgrading my rig. Looking at a 55lb minnkota enduramaxx and possibly pairing it with a lithium battery for my canoe. Can anybody comment as to the physical weight, cost, and runtime? How do they do in the cold?

I do a lot of bass fishing and although I don’t run them in my rig I know guys that do. As for specifics I can’t tell you much more than they can run em all day plus with big trolling motors in heavy winds.

They are drastically lighter but crazy expensive. (I’m sure that doesn’t help much)

I have heard prices on them in the next few years may be dropping due to more production of electric cars etc using the technology

Bioenno is a popular brand. They're spendy, but supposedly pretty amazing.

I am wanting to get into some DIY lithium battery projects in the near future. There are a couple niche market, very expensive, kayak motor systems on the market with absolutely ridiculous ranges. (Such as the torqeedo ultralight 403 with 25 mile max range)

Lithium typically runs much better in cold weather than nickel metal hydride or lead acid, it runs at almost half the weight, last 8-10 times longer before losing storage capability, and stores anywhere between 20-35% more energy In the same physical size. Aside from cost, there is almost no downside in switching.

I am thinking of playing around with battery packs made from 18650 batteries. (the basic cell that Tesla battery packs, e-bike batteries, laptop batteries, and many other devices are made of) it is pretty cool what can be done with used battery cells nowadays.
