Today while setting up my XOP seat platform. I was using a lone wolf buckle to cam the platform to the tree. I had it wrapped through the platrom and then hooked on each of the ears. Well one of the ears broke. Just from pressure of camming it over. I was using only enough pressure to make it solid. I definitley feel like it wasnt excessive. Any way be careful using them for uninteded purposes. Ill try something else. Any ideas??

Yeah, that sucks. I always do two wraps before hooking on the ear. I had heard of others breaking them off. Some guys use a continuous loop on one side of the platform and use a carabiner on that side of the strap.

Guys who have broken off one of the ears that is. Double wrap is a pain but if you do it on the good side and just leave it attached the carabiner on the other side will make installation quick. I've even seen some wrap the platform on the broken side with rope or tape and attach the carabiner directly to the platform. The rope helps distribute the load across a wider area of the platform and carabiner.

Yeah. It happens. I've seen guys even break the seat itself, not just the ear, by applying too much pressure. It was one of the many reasons why the Predator platform was designed the way it was...its a stronger, safer option than the seat kits.

There is a chance to win a Predator platform on both this forum AND on facebook.

I had the same thing happen 20 ft up. I was tethered in so not a huge safety deal for me. I ordered a new predator for that reason
