I recently cut down my LW sticks, some of you may have seen the thread. Well, I never have been the biggest fan of the single steps. With the 4 extras I cut off, I was thinking about adding them to the top of my sticks to make a double step on top. I’ve seen pics of it done, but couldn’t really find any info on it. Any body got any ideas? I know I would need a longer, stronger stopper bolt, and obviously a longer bolt to go through both steps. But anybody got any pros or cons to doing this? Too much leverage on small bolts? Like I said, it would only be on the top to stand even while attaching next stick. Any input would be nice before I dive off into it in the next couple days. Thanks guys!

After more searching and thought, I’m thinking this may be a no-go. The only written info I can really find on this, was from a thread on ArcheryTalk, and it was from 2012 I think. It had a few people commenting about too much leverage and what it might do to the tubing more than he bolt. Not to mention, I’ve never heard much else about it and the guy never really had anymore posts about it after he built his ‘prototype’, so it makes me think it didn’t work out too well, makes me think of it was a good idea that more of you creative folks would have done it already.

There was a thread on the hunting beast where someone tried it. The consensus was exactly what your concerns are.

How about mounting the step on the other side a few inches down from the existing step. With an aluminum spacer inside the tube it should retain strength. Is there an existing spacer inside the tube for the single step?

That’s a thought, no there’s no spacer, just through the aluminum tube

You can buy double steps for the LW sticks... They don't fold up though... Some have put the muddy steps on the LW sticks (requires drilling). But if you're going that far you may as well just sell the LWs and buy the Muddy.

Yeah I think I’m just gonna but then from DanO, I was just gonna see if there was a way I could use what I have. And I’m not spending the money for muddy steps ha
