Lwcg new platform

Looks awesome, but I like the size of the original ambush.

I do too. But this new platform is the sort that you can toss in a pack and strike out without a specific plan. I like that. If I know where I'm going to hunt, there may be better options, and I'd likely select a bigger platform.

I spent a bunch of time on my new ambush today in the yard, I like it a lot, the appeal to me of this new version is the ability to throw it inside a normal pack, and hopefully have no sharp edges that will destroy said pack, that being said I mite hold off on the new version for a bit I just really like the size of the original, but who knows if it’s available in the next couple weeks I mite accidentally hit the buy it now button, once September hits I’m not changing my setup my bags are already packed.

Says the guy who just changed his setup……

First thought is the center of the platform appears over built and the weight would support it.

That roadshow they mentioned a couple upcoming things- a new saddle platform was not one of them (in MC PA). Interesting surprise.

The jigsaw cutdown version is nice but the weight savings is so minimal the (back)packability is the only gain.

While I’m obviously on hunting forums and YouTube- this was the only post noted on this thing. Just curious as to where it was posted and by whom ?

It appears beefed up to me too. I think they got a lot of requests for a Predator-ish sized platform that's stronger and more rigid. Looks like this hits the mark for that.

I mostly agree with your comment on the cut platform, it's main benefit over a standard Ambush is packability. I'd add that at 14" to the front, it adds a bit of room to turn on the platform more easily (vs. this newer iteration), especially since the LWCG post is a bit further from the tree than other designs. That extra length is worth the weight, imo, especially when most packs run at least 16-19" tall, so you've not lost any packability with a longer design.

I got a text from a friend to demo this platform in the near future. Hopefully I can get some feedback on it.

If you do, definitely let us know how rigid it is. If it is beefed up, it makes a good candidate for platform (no stick) climbing.

I wouldn't want to do that on a Predator.

I'd be worried about those standoffs in a backwards fall.

Platform looks like a winner, though, in that size class.
Yea I don’t know what to think about it just yet, I’m not a big fan of that hook, especially if everything’s still razor sharp, time will tell on that, it’s on my radar.... I’m running my .5 and 4 mini sticks with cable aiders for all of bow season, and some during rifle, and the Ambush when I’m just using bolts, during rifle mainly, my plan was to simplify things and run one stand this season, well I ended up with 2 systems, so I think I’m done for this year and will reevaluate after season. I sold every tree stand and platform I had this spring after I bought my .5, I believe I had something like 15 tree stands piled up in the basement, one thing is for sure I will be 100% mobile this year I no longer have a choice.

I don’t assign much value to the hook. For those who like the feature, it’s there. Personally, I would cut it off.

Also, I couldn't use it like a pack, with straps. If I was bouncing around small parcels, I could see that possibly. But on big public, not for me.

For most scenarios, I like the .5. I'm usually going dark-dark. It's a better all day solution, and easy enough to move on hot sign.

But a scout and hang setup is something I want in my bag of tricks, even though I don't usually get into that too much. To gain any advantage over the .5, I feel you have to employ a stickless climbing technique, 2TC or platform climbing (no stick) or a climbing platform.

I'm not wired like the folks who can hunt off their tiptoes, so a mid-size setup that drops in a pack is about right for me. Could this be it? I don't know.

I've already got a DIY Ambush platform I was going to do something with, but I picked up a post thanks to @kyler1945, and am going to settle on a standard Ambush setup. Just need to figure out what size barrel nut to get, and I'll mess with it. Likely, it'll end up a .5 Ambush like @SRT Saddle Hunter's.

I have to mention, the (original rubberized) finish on the post is much nicer than the finish on my .5. Wish they'd stayed with it.

This seems very similar to the EDP. Not sure I see what will make it worth a, likely, $250+ price.

It honestly seems to be lost in the crowd versus the mantra they usually have

How do you think this will pair with the wolf pack?

What were you trying to tell me here?

You wanted to know how the new platform would pair with the Wolf Pack.

If you watch the video on the Wolf Pack, around 9:18-9:30ish they discuss the pack paired with a saddle platform.

Anyone hear anything on this coming out?

I first inquired via e-mail about this version in mid-August and they indicated "Give it about a month and a half and then that one will be released!"
I followed up mid-November and they've pushed it out until January
