So I ordered 125 grain Magnus stingers and got sent 125 grain Magnus black hornets. Was wondering if anyone has shot them out of a recurve? I like the thickness of the blade and the cut diameter but they kinda look like they are meant more for a crossbow. Just don't want to open the package if they don't fly well. Fyi....40 pound recurve and I draw 27 7/8", 500 grain arrow arrow with a 78 grain insert and obviously 125 upfront.

I have a buddy shooting these and said he tuned it to his arrows to the broadhead and has not had an issue, however, he said he wished he went with the 2 blade with small bleeders to make the tuning easier. He said any little mistake made by him was exaggerated in the arrow flight and he saw less of that with a two blade.

I had used the Stingers a few years back and really liked them but they did shoot 2” lower than my same grain field points, all shot consistent and were easy to tune but did shoot a little different. Just be sure to tune or check each arrow no matter what broadhead you plan to use.

You will be just fine with them. I actually think you will really like them, great head and fly really well

No experience with a trade bow or the black hornets, but I prefer the blade angle and solid blades on a stinger. My experience with Magnus heads is that they should fly and group well for you though

Magnus shoot well. All of them.

Those heads will also be fine, prefer the stingers but apples to apples.

The only issue I have with magnus, and really any thin stamped metal blade, is durability and then how long they hold an edge.

Shoot these, make sure they are sharp. When you break or bend one, they will send a new one.

I shoot the 4 blade ser razors. I’m using a compound. I’m up around 475 grains taw this year but last year was around 415. 27” draw and 260 fps last year (probably down to 250 this year). Not exactly apples to apples but I’ve been happy with them the past four years. I sharpen them from the factory packaging until they are mirror sharp. Unless I’ve put it into the shoulder bone they pass straight through. Last Friday I hit a doe in front of the back hip and exited behind the off side armpit. The path through the deer was longer than the length of the arrow But it just sliced straight through.

You won't have any flight issues with the Black Hornet, but as was mentioned earlier, the steep blade angle is going to be of concern.
You'll get a greater mechanical advantage for penetration with a Magnus Stinger or Stinger Killer Bee. ;)

I shoot an ILF recurve, at 45# and use a left single bevel Grizzly broadhead and get great penetration. This broadhead has an extreme low profile and are reasonably priced.
