So I started down this path like a lot folks here with harness' platform stick no sticks etc. Decided a platform would be a good to have depending on where I'm hunting for the day and as nice as the predator and other platforms out there I ain't spending another couple of hundred bucks or so to have another tool in the box. Not to mention I am huge believer in using what I have already, so with that in mind I purchased two Hawk Mega hunter hang on stands last season, so instead of re-purposing I turned one into a Multi purpose unit. Took off the standing platform (which is huge on the mega), Drilled a hole for the tree grabber that I "borrowed from my son's stand ;) mounted at the bottom. Pretty simple solution and if I have a need for a full stand I can simply throw the standing platform back on. Now performance wise vertically rock solid, I will be testing out side pressure tonight. I do see that adding another strap may be necessary. Weight wise about 5.5 lbs. thinking two sticking with aiders or DRT it should be good to go.

I bought a lone wolf alpha tech that they sold at Sams club for $40 and realized that I was never going to use it so I took all the pieces and turned it into a platform similar to what you did. Only piece I didn't have was an extra lone wolf offset bracket that cost $10. Repurposing stuff is always great.

Interesting idea! I still have a muddy outfitter stand that the mrs. Believes I sold to fund something.... Anyway while searching for things to repurpose for hunting I thought of the same thing. The seat however did not look strong enough to handle my weight. I know that sounds dumb because I used to sit on it. Still, doesn't look great. I am looking forward to hearing how it goes for you and if indeed is sturdy with side pressure. @Digger1 is in need of a platform and lives around the corner. I suppose I could help him.
