Found a mantis; just a thought. I would prefer the leg loops to be continuous the thought of that little gap at the attachment loop makes me shutter.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to mod this make the loops a solid circle that can just be cinched down?

you could "tie" in the T hooks (or G hooks) and then just step through. If I didn't intend on taking the hooks out, I would use a castration band.

Is that kind of what you had in mind?

I guess I could thread one those rectangular strap buckles, then go through the loop; and then back through the buckle.

How are you going to use a castration ring?

You could but that seems crude. Give it a try though!

As for the castration band, I would do it like I did with the microadjusters.

Ok got it; something about the G hook just gives me the willies.

I suppose you could cut the loop and sew in a triglide type of thing.

The leg straps are not load bearing so the g hook is strong enough

@pesqimon How do you be sure if you slipped or fell you aren’t coming out of it? Just the waist strap?

I get it that those things are rated to X thousands of pounds but things break, human error, just looking for redundancy, is this too much caution?

so, the saddle may be rated to "thousands" of pounds if hanging from the bridge and the weight is in the seat...

A saddle with rated buckles in the leg straps may also be able to withstand weight to whatever the limit of the buckle is.

The Mantis leg straps were not meant for bearing weight and the use of G/T Hooks reflects that. Even if you somehow replaced the T hooks with a rated buckle, I would still be hesitant to trust that kind of DIY.

That said, it is pretty difficult in practice to get into a situation where the leg straps are bearing weight. It is even more difficult to fall out of a saddle, which is why some designs do not include rated leg straps or leg straps at all.

If someone on here hasn't done it already, everyone should tie off a few inches off the ground and deliberately try to fall out of the saddle. Make sure to record yourself as it could be funny :D
