Muddy aerolite rope modification

I just tried doing the rope modification on the aerolite sticks.. I like these sticks for the double step and longer length. They are heavier than the lone wolf sticks.. With the 8 mm static cord they sag more than a lone wolf stick and are harder to get tight but they do seem secure. I may put versa buttons on them but I will try these as they are for now

How much heavier are they, and how well do they pack together?

They pack together well and they weigh about 3 pounds but less with the rope modification. I did not weigh them but muddy claims they weigh 9 lbs for three. I have lone wolf sticks and these. I may use both but I like the idea of these for my last stick for part of a platform. I may put a second versa button on an use the rope for the stick and a second strap with OCB on climbing paws. Going to try it. I hate trying to put paws on in the dark and threading them through a cam buckle.

The button is sloped and not flat on the inside like a versa button. I wonder about grinding the slope out and that would fix how tight the rope gets. I dont think it would effect the integrity of the button much because them seem stronger than a versa button anyway.

Ok cool. What I'm finding on sticks is I like the versa button the most, I like a double step on the top of the stick and singles on the other 2 parts.

Hey, I was searching the forum about aerolite rope mod. Did you every do anything with the slope on the muddy buttons? I know the versa button uses a smaller diameter bolt, so I can't out that on my muddy sticks.

I love cam cleats versa buttons not so much.
But versa buttons pack better and are lighter and work fine

I have used all the parts on my old heavy aerolite sticks to build new very light sticks using @ImThere steps

It works as is with 8mm static rope

Thanks for the reply, especially since this thread is almost 2 years old. I'll try the 8mm rope with the muddy button on my aerolites.
