muddy staggers and a platform

I got my new saddle, and am getting other equipment ready. I went to sports store , and found 2 kinds of climbing sticks . one sat tight to the tree like my 4 ladder sets do, and one sat 6 in. out from tree, (muddy), and I realized they formed a 6x6 platform. They are square tubular steel, so I took a 12x12 in piece of ply, drilled and bolted it on the top of one of the sticks, Being square, they seated very well. when I strap the 3 together, the one with the platform goes on top, and they are good to go, with 3 in. more on either side, and 6 more out front

I will try to ge a picture. I have not been on a tree yeyt w/ my saddle and sticks and I may have a problem . With the platform on the top step, I do not know if it will be hard to get over, tomorrow, it is supposed to stop raining here, and I am going

don't know why I have 2 , lucky to have any.. I have not tried to climb on it yet, and may have to cut a semi- circle out of the front, to be able to climb over. or just take a couple inches off the front. I thin on most platforms they are off to the side of the sticks so you step up, step on with mine you will have to step over, and am trying to get another picture

in the pic, the platform looks huge. it is 12x 12 about the size of predator. the steps stick out 6in. almost a platform so I went another 6, I think with some time on it, I will do some customizing. actually, I think a 9 or 10 out from the tree with the same width may do. I even thought of cutting a piece of ply so it would be wider and sort of wrap around to get better on the side then the front. or to keep the front 12, but cut out the center so it would look like places to set my boots with the middle flush to the step. but the 3 muddys go together the same but the platform has to be on top

I am pretty sure I am either going to cut off 2-3 inches off the front, or cut it almost down to the step itself in the middle but leave it heavy on the sides almost like shoe prints to step through. I believe the full 12 will be problematic so far as stepping over, but at the adjustment part, more is better

I’d cut it straight across. If you cut the middle I’d be worried about it breaking. That would prob also make it easier to climb up on.

ooops, you are too late I did cut some of the middle out kept it 2 in. from the frame, but I may rebuild it and make it wider, testing this weekend, but taking regular stand with me as well if I do not like results

set it up as low as possible and bounce on the ends and see if it will hold. Worst case it breaks and you learn something. Best case it works perfectly and this will be as good or better than the Wild Edge step wooden platform.

I did that earlier today and it held fine I also only go 170 but I did need to know
