Fawnzy- Yea, definitely wouldn't want to use that buckle. Since you are using a web strap around the tree, what is the advantage of making it hybrid now? Wouldn't you be better off just wrapping your tree strap around?
I don't want that buckle either. I'm sure there is something better.
Advantages:
1)These straps are as easy to move up the tree as a rope. That means you can assemble your rig on the ground, attach it to the tree and up you go.
2) Line mans belt only needed for climbing around branches.
3) At hunting height, the strap won't slide on the tree
4) it's already wrapped around the tree ( so very simple)
5) you get the easy adjustment of the TL tree strap.
6) wear and tear on the TL strap ( let's call it the vertical strap)would be reduced.
7) Replacing the (horizontal) strap would be much less expensive
8) the vertical strap could be significantly shortened making the whole thing more portable.
Well, I've picked up a heavy duty cam strap with a working load of almost 700lbs. I've left it at a shop that will stitch it up the way I want it. It's blaze orange but that shouldn't matter much. Might be a week or 2 before getting it back.
