sharing a long post about my early season hunt in the Nebraska sandhills - complete with pics and a couple videos.
I bagged a doe on my 3rd day. I was on this trip with my dad, and in the background of the trip, my wife just had foot surgery a week before leaving. So I only had 4 full days in Nebraska. So by the 3rd day, I really wanted to bag a deer and be ready to head home. Even still, it was absolutely worth every cent of the draw tag price - the experience and what I learned was worth it, plus the time with my dad was invaluable.
There were a lot of mistakes I made to learn from: better selecting trees to climb, not trying to sneak along the edge of anything deer could bed in, not moo'ing at any deer within 20yards, and finally, don't assume some out of state thing will put a buck in your lap. I didn't see any antlered deer my days there save one spike on the first night.
I'd do it all again. The doe is mighty tasty and got me amped for our Oct 1 opener!
