I tried saddle hunting several years ago with a Trophyline Treesaddle. I liked the concept but just could not get comfortable in it. I ended up selling it. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and he got me interested in trying it again. Then I found this place. I may just end up trying it again with a different setup.

The trick is practicing in the back yard. It will never work If you don't get comfortable prior to trying to hunt with it. Don't get me wrong, there is definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, you'll never go back.

I practiced with it for a couple of months before the season and used it for a full season before coming to that conclusion. The biggest problem that I seemed to have was the constant pressure on my hips. From what I have been told I should have had a medium instead of a large. I don't know. The problem is that there are not alot of people that hunts like this so you don't really get to try anything out unless you spend the money on it. The nice thing for me now is having this forum to go to for info. At that time there wasn't very much info available.

hey ALwoodsman This place is great. Also there a lot of different saddles available than just the tree saddle and it seems like everybody does some modifications to make theirs just how they want it. Kinda a evolving process.

Welcome. Like these guys said, there's a ton of good info here. Hope you find your perfect saddle. I still occasionally use a stand, but I can't imagine giving up my minimal slings

I picked it up last year after reading John Eberhart's books. I have limited experience, but the new tribe aerohunter evolution is a good commercial option that is very comfortable. It took me about 2 sits to dial it in and I've barely touched it since. Spent about 3 full days in it from dusk to dark. Can't comment on the guidos web or sit drag.

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered a Aero Hunter last week. Hopefully I will get it in time to get some practice in before our season starts here in a few weeks.

Welcome! I got into saddle hunting after my treestand got trapped on an island in the Missouri after the water came up over the causeway. Left with one climbing stick from the bottom of my setup I bought a second after finding out about the swing seat idea. This was my first "saddle", with no pinch may I add. :)
