New to the saddle hunting, just ordered the kestrel. I have been looking into and reading everything i can find on saddles for a little over a year and finally ordered one. I hunt alot of public land in central and around central AR, also have a lease I hunt in from time to time. Looking forward to gettin the saddle in and getting use to it.

Awesome. Welcome to the group and the best way to hunt. I am in Fayetteville. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. We could always try to get together sometime and hunt some public up here or down there as well.

I think other than determining your climbing method, the first thing I would do is replace that Blake's hitch with something like a ropeman or a different hitch that releases easier.

Saddle hunting is harder but the rewards are greater. I had killed one deer before hunting out of a saddle. I killed two last year. I should have 4 this year but had two bad hits during bow season and a clean miss on my first shot with my rifle. Got my first of the season yesterday.

Again, let me know if there is anything I can do or any advice I can give. But there are much more experienced people here to help.

Thank you and im sure ill be asking questions when i get it if i cant find it in other threads. Ive been using climbers for a long time and ive gotten to where i need to be more mobile and not be as limited on what trees i can hunt due to my climber. Ive been hunting a buck on public land that i cant get into bow range of because i cant get my climber on any of the trees where he travels in daylight. Its thick as all get out, started lookin into the saddle and from what ive seen i shouldnt have a problem getting into where hes at in bow range.

Yep. I went out with a buddy last Sunday night and he was shocked I was looking for smaller diameter trees. He had brought a climber.

Then when he watched me rappel down he said it was like spider man.
