Hey everyone, I have finally made the plunge after reading John Eberhart's book and the desire to lighten my load on long hikes to where I hunt. Most of my time is spent on public land in Michigan as well as my families property in northern Michigan. Up until now I have hunted with a lone wolf hang on and sticks. I am currently waiting for my kestrel to arrive and plan to use lone wolf sticks with aiders and my own creation of a Ernie platform I milled. I have been cruising the website for few months and thought I should start contributing.

Welcome! I'm pretty much in the same boat you are. John's books kept me going back to look at "that saddle thing". I'm waiting for my Kestrel as well, pretty much open on everything else though.

Grand Rapids area is where I live but hunt mostly an hour to hour and half north of Grand Rapids area. I’m hoping saddle hunting is going to get me in the spots that I have always looked at and wanted to hunt but did not really work for a tree stand.
