Hey guys I have literally been on this site for the last 3 hours reading and searching for techniques of saddle hunting. I am new to the saddle as I have not purchased one yet and thinking heavily about it. I have a long back ground in Rope Rescue, SRT & DRT ascent, and life long hunter. I have enjoyed reading all the different versions of using the saddle or web and can not wait to try it out. Anyways hope everyone is having a fruitful season and staying safe out there.

Buy one. Then we can all learn from your cool climbing methods!

Welcome to the site! It sounds like a saddle is perfect for you!

Thank you but with my experience I am pretty sure I will have to find a way to lighten up the gear load a lot to be quiet and lighter. Seriously have thought about trying the one stick method as I already use a 10-12 foot 1/2' or 11mm rope I use for my safety with a climbing harness. Can not wait to try one out for sure!

You can use SRT with a saddle to get up in the tree and since you already know how to do it, it should be easy for you! My climbing rope setup is by far the lightest method I have for getting in a tree. I like hunting with this method better if I have a tree pre-set with paracord for getting my rope up. If I have to use a throwbag on the fly it introduces some unknowns that I don't want to deal with at the beginning of a hunt.
