I am intrigued by the concept of saddle hunting, as I found myself last year finding some good places, but often deciding against the hassle of transporting heavy gear, setting up, and then having to tear it back down. To that end, I purchased 10 stepps and a Kestrel with the goal of being a bit lighter on my feet, gear-wise, so I could scout, set up, and then easily depart for another area with gear in hand. I am interested in a more portable saw/pole prunner such as a Hooyeman, perhaps their 10 foot or their 16 foot model. I am leaning toward the longer one in order to trim as needed, and be able to strap it to my pack in leu of carrying the thing. Any input on these saws? I have found, personally, that I like pole prunner just for their quietness and ease of use.

Welcome from Missouri. We aren’t allowed to trim on public lands I hunt.
