New to the saddle, and just wanted to say hi.

Just got my new tribe saddle, tried it out this past weekend. I think I'm gonna like this method over the traditional tree stand I've been using for the past 30 years!

I've decided on the Jim Stepp "Stepladder" system to get up and hunt.

I'm hoping it's a deadly combo.

Welcome! Don't get discouraged with the Stepp Ladders. They can be a little tedious at first. They're a great system. Check out @redsquirrel method of using an aider with the Stepps to make them a little more efficient.

Again - welcome to the best forum on the interwebs!

You are going to love it. I use the Stepp system too. Practice before you go. If the Stepps are new, set them up and leave them over night. They have a little stretch in the rope and that will come out and make them more secure and cam over easier later on.

Where are you located?

I talked to Andrew when I recently bought replacement ropes for my original Stepps. I asked about the stretch and if it was in the whole length of rope (did I have to have a large diameter tree to stretch them on). He said no, the stretch comes from the bury and that I should cam them over four times and they will be good to go. I did cam them over four times and the second and third cam over it seemed I could tighten up the rope a little before the cam over. So I think that worked. I haven't used them since the replacements, so I do not have a report on that.

You may want to look at using the Stepps for a platform. Check out wild edge video on YouTube on setting them up as a platform.

Thx guys, looks like a great sight that I can learn a lot from. I'm hunting in the thumb area of Michigan.
