Hey guys and gals, long time bow hunter here but this is my first season hunting out of a saddle. I hunt all public land here in FL and make the occasional trip to GA. So far my experience saddle hunting has been great and getting better after each sit as I gain experience. Hasn’t taken long to get used to the saddle since I had some prior experience working as a climber at a tree company. I researched saddle hunting off and on for a couple years before finally making the leap. My saddle is a Aero Hunter Kestrel. I have 8 Cranford rope steps with a 5 step aider on the way to give me a little more height. My platform for my first few sits was three screw in steps but I never could get my feet comfortable. I was able to make a platform out of the seat off of a cheap lock on stand. Maybe I will make a thread with pictures of that soon. The platform turned out nice weighing only 4.5lbs with the strap and costing nothing since I had the stand on hand. I’ve been hunting out of climber stands for many years and saddle hunting hands down blows a climber out of water. Well this has turned out to be a lengthy intro, I will end by saying thank you to you all for your helpful threads here that helped me figure out what gear I needed.
