Any lower Baldwin county Alabama saddle pros that want to take a newbie under their wing? LOL.... but for real. I bought a saddle last feb never got a chance to really practice it because of 2020 and now it’s almost hunting season and I just feel out matches by it. I have WE steps, perch, and a nice custom saddle. I just feel like I am super loud, never know what to bring in or organize it, and just like I won’t get the hang of it. I went to the saddle because I wanted to weigh less, pick any tree, and go deeper in then woods then ever....... right now it feels like I should sell it all and go back to a climber...... rant over but looking for some help or pointers. I am in lower Alabama

I'm new this year at this too and as far as noise I just slowed down. Leave 20 mins earlier than normal and thats plenty of time to work in slow motion almost and make it up quiet. Noise is fine if it's natural noise that other animals make, metal to metal is no good. It takes me right at 20 mins to get 16ft using ladder sticks, more than high enough for where I'm at

First year saddler here too. I know this is an old post but after yesterday I feel the same way. I feel very overwhelmed by the amount of gear and all the steps associated with getting up the tree on the platform and all set up quietly. I come from a history of lock on's pre set so all i had to bring was my bow and pack. Now i have sticks, platform, bow, boot blankets, knee pads and all the other stuff for a hunt. I bought the Horn hunter mainbeam to fit it all and now i have what feels like a 40lb pack hanging awkwardly in the tree with me. I had to make sure i used a climbing rated biner to hang it with. Sorry for the rant. I'm sure with more practice and more setup opportunities, things will improve. thanks

My saddle and rope go in pack along with calls, light. Platform attached to back of pack, Carry bow and throw a shoulder strap on attached to my sticks and as long as I move slow I'm quiet. Anywhere from 20-40 mins sometimes to get to hunt ready. Lock ons are great but something about a saddle makes it great and more fun
