I want to use a saddle this upcoming season. I have a rock climbing harness and was planning on using it with a sit and drag. I set it all up and have been playing around and it works well but the sit and drag seems like it will start to bite after a while. I use these Millennium and Ol' Man hangons. I was trying to see if I could use the Ol' Man sling style seat in place of the sit and drag.

See pics below. I will change the loops from the orange in the pics. But, otherwise this seems to work great from ground level. I can twist and move and it is super comfy when leaning or sitting. The 3rd pic shows how it twists and kind of locks you in on a 6 o'clock shot.

Am I missing something obvious? I'll tie in a perm fixed bridge once I settle on optimum length. Again, I'll also have an RC harness on either tied on a second tie in rope or a second knot on the same rope, just with a little slack....

I’m wondering if the open frame will begin to bow and twist with use and thus get annoying. If it feels good and safe, go for it.

Basically what you have is a bosin chair( or seat) and I have used one to hunt out of and it worked fine! That being said you need to be sure the tubing on your seat can handle the weight at a lower height before trying it at hunting height! Whatever you do be safe! As long as you use your rock climbing harness in conjunction with it you should be ok!

I'm not diggin the open the frame. Since you have the strapping woven through the webbing of your seat you may be OK, as far as the forward strap coming off the frame. The open "U" shape of the frame is what would concern me. It seems to me like it could bend. The main thing is to woller it around and put as much stress on it, and play monkey man trying to destroy it, all while at ground level. You may find that you need to have a bar or "v" welded to the front portion of your frame for strength and rigidity, if not keeping the forward strap from ever coming off. Maybe not. Good luck I hope it works for you! The RC harness will keep you safe while you test it.
