These don’t seem too bad at all. Now I have decisions to make

@onestringer Dennis gave me the same warning the other day. It's something he has to do to cover himself. However... I'm about to order my OCB. Is it worth it? Rock solid or not?

I'll bet the squirrel steps would be perfect if they could add those 'wings'.

I've used my OCB for 2 seasons now with no issues. The one @DanO sells on his site is rated for a 330lb working load, with a 3x safety factor. That's plenty for me.

Very solid on OCB, the same or more when compared to ameristeps and more solid than squirrel steps....

Please keep in mind I have only played with these for about 15 minutes.

I really like squirrel steps, just a disclaimer.

The scaffold is good, and I would like it more if I had never used squirrel steps. They get very solid with my OCB, no issues. They are not as compact as squirrel steps due to the wings. So basically I like them, I might keep them. But they're probably going to sit around a while.

Same here I love my squirrel steps. Everything is a give an take.

I fully understand why they are steel. However... Make these puppies aluminum, lose the wings, and raise the slot (IMO). They would be PERFECT. I might just leave them in my bag with my squirrel steps, see if they will reproduce.

I played with both side by side tonight switching between a ratchet and OCB with both and I was surprised how well the squirrel steps hung with them considering they dont have the wings. The squirrel steps weren't quite as solid, but darn close. They are definitely lighter, squirrels weigh 3.1oz each and the cranford's are 7.8oz. I also think the squirrel steps will be way easier to silence. The OCB held it's own vs the ratchet, too, as far as being solid on the tree, is faster to set up, and of course is about a million times quieter.

If u want wings on squirrel steps, grind a small flat spot angled towards the tree, drill/tap some holes, add a couple bolts to act as wings.
