Old saddle hunter back

i use the term “old” loosely for I’m fairly young (27). Was using the old trophyline tree saddles about 9 years ago, through high school and college. Kind of left deer hunting/archery for the past 5 or so years due to my job/relocating and pursuing duck hunting.

Anyways... I’m finally settled down and back in my old stomping grounds. Ready to pick bowhunting back up again and want to continue the hunting with a saddle. After some research within the last month, I realized some things have changed. Looks like kestrel is the new company on the block.

My questions are what is the common set ups now? Back then it was tree saddle with lone wolf or muddy sticks combined with Ameri-steps on a ratchet strap. I really want to get back to that style set up. Can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA

Jake

Welcome!..... there are a bunch of different climbing methods out there you'll find on here but I'm going to say that sticks is probably the most widely used, lone wolf, muddy, and hawk being most common but the wild edge steps have really gained popularity in the last year or so....and as for a platform alot of guys still prefer ameristeps but a lot have went to useing small platform like an xop seat.... I hope this was what you were looking for!

Welcome! You can still use that setup for sure. The only big change I would suggest you make is to replace the ratchet strap with the boat buckle (there is a sticky on it in the platforms section). The kestrel is out there and a great option and there are endless climbing methods to try, but there is nothing wrong with your current setup!

Welcome! I’m still old school like you and agree with the sticky on the boat buckle! Welcome back to the best way to have fun with ur clothes on!!!

If your Trophlyline is still in good shape, there is no need to buy a new one. If you want to then go for it, but if you used the TL for 9 years I imagine you are pretty comfortable in that setup.

Welcome from Tn. Look at the newer seat platform mods on here. It’s prettty lite weight and compact.

Welcome to the site! As always there’s plenty to tinker with. But what you already used is a solid system!

Sorry guys, should have mentioned I sold my old saddle set up and bow! So have to start over completely!

Thanks for the welcomes! Look forward to learning from all of you.

I've lived/worked all over Florida. From Destin/fort Walton beach area all the way down to Okeechobee. I'm currently back home where I was born and raised in Ocala.
Ok cool. You're about 1 1/2 hrs south of me.
