Tried the one sticking with a double Amsteel aider and had a kick out .
Also tried 2 step Ultimaider and that wasn’t comfortable.
Just not comfortable with aiders unless it was my single wire aiders.
Any tips or just stick with the multiple sticks I’ve always used!

I’ve one sticked with a single step aider for a few years. Multiple step aiders add height to your moves but aren’t required.

I don’t one stick. But on the rare occasion that I use climbing sticks, I like a 2 step ultimaider on the first stick and single step wire aiders above that. If the tree I’m climbing is twisty and out of plum, I don’t like any aider at all. I do everything I can to be be safe, avoid kick outs or other unsuspected slips. Which is why I prefer climbing with ropes.

I use a single step wire aider. Never felt the need to add another step. I can’t see it saving any time and maybe one less stick move.

I too dislike more than a single step aider. I do like my full size helium 1 stick so I have 4 steps each move. 2 moves is usually enough, but a third and i have only a little bit of rappel rope touching the ground and feel like I’m way up there!

Keep practicing. When/how did the kick out occur? I have a 3 step aider on my one stick but I don't transfer weight to that foot unless it's directly below the stick and my toe is in contact with the tree, pretty much impossible to apply sideways pressure to the stick if you follow that rule. Then advance the tether or take out slack, so weight can be transferred to saddle/butt before taking the next step and follow the same rule etc.
