I'm sure it has been posted somewhere, but the perch locks in the primal step rock solid. In fact, there is less of a learning curve with the strap vs the wild edge rope. I have a set of wild edge stepps for run and gun and they are definitely better quality than the primals, but at $5 a piece the primals make a great option to leave in the tree. On my presets I plan on using screw in steps going up the tree, then have 1 primal at the top. When I hunt those spots all I have to carry is the perch, climb up, and hook in. For those with access to private land, I don't know of a lighter, more efficient way to preset for saddle hunting.

That's a great idea! I am thinking I could leave a whole bunch of primal steps all over public!

This is kind of what I do. I’ll preset a few trees with wild edge steps and a ROS/stepp ring. Then when I leave I’ll remove steps below 10-11ft. I can come in and set two sticks, and be up sitting/hanging without breaking a sweat climbing and hanging steps.

I just found out about the primal steps, and at this price might switch my public land sets to these

Yeah at that price it's hard to beat. And since I'm only using them for my platform there is no need to mod them to save weight. With the perch in hand I have a little over $40 for 8 preset platforms.
