I got my new H2 saddle, ( haven't tried it yet), and have decided to go with climbing sticks. I have 4 sets, and all stick together to form one ladder. I decided to try stagger steps. and found a store with 2 types, one sat tight to the tree, but the other , muddys, stuck out from the tree and formed about a 6in. by 6in. platform on top, I took a 12 x 12 in. piece of 3/8 ply which extends the platform 3 in. of each side and 6 over the front. and the muddys are a square tubular steel, so it made drill and mount very easy, and when you stack and tie the 3 if the one with the platform is on top, they stack the same, can't wait to try

I have a set of those Stagger Steps I keep set-up in my backyard for practice shooting from the saddle. They're a little too bulky for me to use as a primary climbing method. BUT I'd love to see some pics of your platform since that may be nice to have for my backyard practice.

yes , go to "climbing methods and platforms to page 20. . It looks very crude, because at first it was a 12 by 12 piece, but as you went up it was hard to get over it so I took my tree saw and modified it int he woods. it actually worked very well, and the 3 sticks pack up with no problem . I will modify them a bit more and make them maybe 2 inches wider on each side to make the middle spot more open, and actually the only issue i had is my knee pads would hook a little in the center

again , if I cut the platform wider I can do the cut out in the middle wider and if you swing around to either side, you have more support.
