Ok I was out at Tractor supply and saw these on sale. 2 for $3. I picked up two sets. They are rated 800# per SET.
Being on here got me to thinking. These are pre drilled just add 2" flat thin aluminium strips with flat head bolts to width you want. One as a spacer for tree side the others to stand on. Then paint and strap to tree, you could also add short bolts as tree grippers. As use for short treks or pre set ups this may work?

My initial thought is "man that looks nuts". They look like shelving brackets right? I'm not sure those brackets are designed to take any rotational force, to use a non-engineer term. Shear force? Is that the term? Not sure you're looking for an accountants advice here is what I'm saying.

But I miss recent past before tehtered basically nuked the free flowing DIY spirit and became the walmart of saddle hunting. So let's see what you come up with. Just be safe.

They are steel shelving brackets with a welded steel brace. The brackets are designed for a 800# load as a pair. There is a slew of info on line about calculating the rotational loads for such bracketing or shelving.
i actually do not see an issue as discribed.
I have to say I have built 21/2 x 3ft "hang on " type wooden tree stands with the same type of bracing that have been up for over 10 years. The largest in a maple whos Y grew together. In high winds the actual rotational force due to high winds has only effected the bolt connections to the tree, not the platform bracing strength.
This would be significantly smaller in width for even the applied use as just selving. Strapped not bolted to the tree with no reliance on bolt strength to hold the platform in place to a fixed strut. Your input is appreciated though.

How much do they weigh?

Just the brackets weight 21/2 #'s. You'd have to add the weight of the aluminium bracing. So, as I said, knowing you guys are very very weight conscious . Perhaps for short treks or presets.
the post was purposed in the form of a question.
One never knows until they have an idea, get input, do research and testing. I was told building a blind out of card board was a waste of time. I have a 9 year old one that I've taken multiple deer, turkey, squirrel out of and I have a 4yr. Old one that I've done the same. Both have card board roofs with carpeted floors and clothe office chairs for seating. So you never know.

I used similar brackets and made both movable and fixed platforms that I used this deer season (2018) . These are the only pictures I have on hand but will to make some close ups and post.
